REVIEW - DI CLARK AND THE D'NOSSA QUINTET

On Sunday 15th August 2021 Di Clark & the D'Nossa Quintet gave The Sunshine Coast Jazz Club  a breath of fresh air with an afternoon of music, laughter and just good old fashioned enjoyment.  Di opened with a jazz standard and followed with the Kiss classic “I Was Meant For Lovin' You” to which everyone joined in.  The band were now into their stride.  Peter gave us some dirty growl trumpet as Di sang “Comes Love” and then a soft solo when Di sang a beautiful rendition of “Since I Fell For You”.   A lovely version of M. Le Grande's “Watch What Happens” led to a spectacular “Sweet Georgia Brown” to finish to the first set.

The Second set gave Di and the group a lot of room to entertain with:   “But Not For Me”; “You're Looking at Me” and then Peter sang, with audience help, “Minnie Rippington's “Loving You”.   Rod behind the drums sang a bracket of favourites as well as having great Guitar solos from Greg and as always the great rhythms and solos from Jo on keyboards and John on bass. Di knocked us out with the Peggy Lee’s  “Fever”, “Old Devil Moon” and then an exciting “Love For Sale” to finish a wonderful afternoon of well-known music to relax and enjoy.  As always our sound man Ben did his usual professional work providing excellent sound.

Thanks again to Di Clark and the D'Nossa Quintet for a great afternoon that helped us, for a while, to forget COVID.
