REVIEW - The Magnificence

The Sunshine Coast Jazz Club has done it again.  THE MAGNIFICENCE, a very aptly named group of talented musicians, opened Sunday 20th February’s concert at the Caloundra Power Boat Club with an old jazz standard “Let's Go Down to New Orleans “. This settled the packed audience into a true jazz feeling.  “Hey Little Darlin”, “Careless Love”, Fat's Waller's “Ain't Misbehavin' then followed. Dancers were up, the audience singing along (not happened before) and toes were tapping.   All in all, a great afternoon start to a fun jazz afternoon.

Each member of the band - Cameron on trumpet & vocals, Lachi on drums, Paul - Tenor sax, Joe (great on banjo)and Julian the  bass player -  were all given opportunities during the day to show their outstanding talents with great solos.  More well- known favourites followed “Iv'e Found a New Baby” an original “ 3am Fried Chicken”, “The Sheik of Araby” and  Louis's “What a Wonderful World” brought sighs, maybe a few tears and a big fat applause!!  Finishes must come and what a finish “Won't You Come Home Bill Bailey” was the climax to a MAGNIFICENCE afternoon of top- class jazz, fun and just pure enjoyment.
