On Sunday 20th November at the Caloundra Power Boat Club, we thought we were invaded by members of the US Army. No, just our great local musicians re-enacting the music from the Vietnamese period in the 60's. The theme from Mash, Happy Together, Jim Jam Jumpin Jive, Is Yo is or is Yo ain't my Baby, C'est si Bon, all played with enjoyment and crowd participation.
Eddie on clarinet played beautifully Acker's Stranger on the Shore and Peter and Cherryn dueted or sang solely many old songs long forgotten. Jo on keyboards again showed us why she is the Queen of Boogie. That left hand just rocks that boogie (the right hand isn't too bad either). Cherryn opened the second set with the Jo Williams’s special Every day I have the Blues. With Eddie on clarinet they cruised through Sweet Georgia Brown. So many old jazz standards! How about Dell Shannon's Little Runaway from Peter? Eddie again blasted roaring sax tenor and baritone solos and those high notes !!! A lovely ballad from Cherryn - I Wish I knew - led Peter into Van Morrison's Moondance as a finale. The floor was continually packed with dancers thoroughly enjoying the music. A great afternoon of memories for we oldies and some youngies also.!!.
Thank you MORSE CODE and that cheeky SECRET SQUIRREL
