On Sunday 15th September the Caloundra Power Boat Club exploded with delight when GEORGE WASHINGMACHINE, the International Master Jazz Violinist, Vocalist & Raconteur with his 4 talented musicians started to entertain in his relaxed & enjoyable style with “A little too Late”. Never too late George!!
Well known melodies flowed from George, his violin, his voice and from glorious solos from his talented guys. John (Keyboards), Elliot (Bass), Chris (Drums) & great Tenor man Paul were all given extended solo spots to show their respective talents, none better. “But not for Me”, “You make me feel so Young”, Jazz great Benny Carter's “When Lights are Low” finished a set.
Our sound man Ben as always doing his fine work with sound!! Second set featured Benny Goddman’s “Don't be that Way” then the standout Ray Noble's “The Very Thought of You” was a gem!! Matt Dennis “The Night we called it a Day”.
Then George was at his best with “A Russian Lullaby”. The crowd were in raptures, the jazz club's dancing troupe were nearly exhausted. Time for the end. “A Slow Boat to China” was to be the end but our President Julie nicely prevailed on George for not one, but two encores. George as gracious and his friends agreed and the memorable “Stella by Starlight” and “There's an Ache in My Heart” (in ours also) finished one of the club's unforgettable afternoons.
Thank you Julie and the committee!! Thank You, Thank You George and your Friends. How can you better this afternoon!!
