Home Brew

On Sunday 8th December the popular jazz group HOME BREW livened up the Power Boat Club with an afternoon of jazz classics.  The opening “When you're Smiling” took us “Way Down Yonder in New Orleans”.

Then a smooth “Mood Indigo” introduced Jo with her left-hand rumbling and the right hand tinkling the keyboard in her famous Boogie style. The group, Stephen [sousaphone], Jo [keyboards], Peter [trumpet, vocals], Paul [reeds], Chris [trombone], Dave [drums], Dave [acoustic guitar] all had featured spots to show their respective talents.

Peter enthused the audience to get up and mess around and what a pleasure to see our good friend Trevor in his wheelchair giving it a twirl. Then not to be outdone our President Julie showed her singing prowess with a great “Bill Bailey”. Many more classic tunes were played including the classic “St. James Infirmary” and a racy “Sweet Georgia Brown”. The afternoon finished on a happy note with the audience enjoying a magical afternoon of jazz.

HOME BREW…….. always a great afternoon!
