Slips & Flamin Whippersnappers

On Sunday 20th April at the Caloundra Power Boat Club SLIPS & FLAMIN WHIPPERSNAPPERS slipped into music action [not whippersnapping] and quickly had the audience in a WOW mood. SLIPS opened with a nice medium tempo “Careless Love” with vocals from Dave and a solo on guitar. A blues “Milk Cow Blues” was followed by a Jelly Roll Morton “High Society”. This fast-swinging ragtime led into a slow blues to finish the set.

SLIPS & FLAMIN WHIPPERSNAPPERS have such talented musicians. Second set started with “I've Got Nobody” then another Morton classic “Ain't gonna give you none of this Jelly Roll”. The Dukes' “The Mooche” featured some excellent muted and growl trumpet from Roberto.

The musicians always are heard to their best with solos. Zoe, a newcomer to SLIPS played some interesting trombone. Ian’s nimble fingers on keyboards always astound the audience. Time always eventuates to a finish and what a finish. “St. James Infirmary Blues” was a fitting finale to a great afternoon of great music new and old.

Thank you SLIPS & FLAMIN WHIPPERSNAPPERS!
